The airport was closed sometime between 1993 and 1999. It was last depicted on the 1993 Dallas Sectional Chart but was no longer shown on the 1999 World Aeronautical Chart. The last available aerial photo showing a distinct, maintained runway is from 1995.
The specific reason for closure is not officially documented. As a private airfield named after its owner, H. Huscher, it is presumed to have closed due to common reasons for such facilities, such as the owner's retirement from flying, death, or the sale of the property. There is no evidence to suggest closure was due to a specific accident, economic failure of a commercial operation, or military conversion.
The site is currently private agricultural land. Satellite imagery of the coordinates shows that the area of the former runway has been converted into a cultivated field. While the land is now used for farming, a faint outline of the former north-south runway is still discernible from the air. All airport infrastructure, such as hangars or markings, has been removed.
Huscher Field (formerly assigned FAA identifier OK37) was a private general aviation airfield. It was operational from at least the mid-1960s, first appearing on the 1965 USGS topographic map. The airfield consisted of a single 2,600-foot unpaved turf runway, oriented north-south (Runway 17/35). Its primary function was to serve the personal aviation needs of its owner and likely other local pilots for recreational flying. It handled light, single-engine aircraft, typical of private airstrips that were common in rural America during that era.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Huscher Field. The land has been fully repurposed for agricultural use, and its revival as an airport is considered extremely unlikely.
