Tarry Bank Airport

Urban encroachment and residential development. The primary reason for the airport's closure was the sale of the land for the construction of a suburban housing community. The location became more valuable for real estate than for aviation as the San Antonio metropolitan area expanded into Leon Springs.

The site of the former airport has been completely redeveloped and is now the location of the Stonewall Ranch residential neighborhood. The coordinates provided point directly into this dense housing development. There are no remaining traces of the runway, hangars, or any other airport infrastructure.

Tarry Bank Airport was a private general aviation airfield that became operational sometime in the mid-1980s, first appearing on the 1987 San Antonio Sectional Chart. It featured a single, unpaved north-south turf runway, approximately 3,000 feet long. The airport primarily served local private pilots for recreational flying and was not equipped for commercial or heavy aircraft operations. It had a few small buildings, likely serving as hangars or for storage. The identifier 'US-10803' is not an official ICAO or FAA code but a non-standard identifier used by some third-party aviation databases for unlisted airfields.
