Approximately 2011-2013. Satellite imagery from 2010 shows a well-maintained grass runway, while images from 2013 show it in a state of disuse. By 2014, large-scale earth-moving and construction for a new housing development had begun on the site, permanently erasing the airfield.
Economic reasons, specifically urban development. The land occupied by the ranch and its private airstrip was sold to home builder DiVosta (a division of PulteGroup) for the construction of a large residential community. The high value of the land for real estate development in the rapidly growing Jupiter area made its continued use as a private airfield economically unviable.
The site of the former airport is now completely occupied by the 'Sonoma Isles by DiVosta' gated residential community. The area has been fully redeveloped with single-family homes, streets, man-made lakes, and other suburban infrastructure. There are no remaining physical traces of the runway or any associated aviation facilities.
BR Ranch Airport was a private-use airfield serving the large 'B-R Ranch' property on which it was located. It was not open to the public. Aeronautical charts from the 1980s and 1990s depict it as a private field with a single unpaved (turf/grass) runway, approximately 2,600 feet long, aligned north-south. Operations would have been limited to small, single-engine general aviation aircraft owned or used by the ranch's owners and their associates. Its significance is representative of the many private ranch airstrips that once dotted rural Florida before widespread suburban development.
None. The land has been permanently and irreversibly redeveloped for high-density residential use. There are no plans, and no physical or legal possibility, of reopening an airport at this location.
