Circa late 1990s to early 2000s. The airfield was depicted on the 1998 World Aeronautical Chart but was no longer listed on aeronautical charts by 2002. Aerial imagery from 1995 shows a well-defined runway and hangar, while by 2004 the runway was less distinct and by 2016 the hangar had been removed.
Cessation of private use. Wyatt Airport was a private airfield located on the Wyatt Ranch. Such airfields are often closed when the owner sells the property, passes away, or no longer has a need or the resources to maintain it for aviation. There is no indication of closure due to accidents, military conversion, or broader economic factors.
The site is no longer recognizable as an airport. The land has been fully reclaimed by the Wyatt Ranch for agricultural or ranching purposes. The former turf runway is completely overgrown with grass and vegetation, and the hangar that was once on the property has been dismantled and removed. The area is private property with no public access.
Wyatt Airport, also known as Wyatt Field or Wyatt Ranch Airfield (its former FAA identifier was 84TE), was a private general aviation airfield. Its significance was primarily local, serving the personal aviation needs of its owner, Rogers Wyatt, and the Wyatt Ranch. First depicted on a 1975 topographical map, it featured a single unpaved, north/south turf runway measuring approximately 3,000 feet. It was used by light aircraft for private and recreational purposes throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airport. Given that it was a private facility and all aviation-specific infrastructure has been removed, its reactivation as an airfield is considered highly unlikely.
