Circa late 2013 to early 2014. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) records show that the heliport, identified as 1PA5, was listed for deletion in an official publication dated October 17, 2013, indicating its formal closure around that time.
The closure was due to economic and land development reasons. The heliport was a private facility located on Knorr Farms. The farmland was sold to a developer and subsequently redeveloped into a large industrial park. With the sale and change in land use from agriculture to industrial warehousing, the heliport became defunct and was decommissioned.
The site of the former heliport and the entirety of Knorr Farm has been completely transformed. The land was redeveloped into the 'Berks Park 183', a major industrial and logistics park. The exact location of the former heliport is now occupied by massive warehouse and distribution center buildings, part of a large-scale commercial development hub located along Interstate 176.
Knorr Farm Heliport (FAA LID: 1PA5) was a private-use heliport with no significant public or military history. Its sole purpose was to serve the aviation needs of the owners and operators of Knorr Farms, a large agricultural business in Cumru Township, Berks County. Operations were limited to private helicopter flights under Visual Flight Rules (VFR), likely used for business travel, aerial surveying of the farmland, or personal transportation. The facility consisted of a single 50 x 50 foot turf landing pad.
None. There is zero prospect of the heliport reopening. The physical site has been permanently altered and is now occupied by large industrial structures. The original infrastructure is gone, and the land's current use for industrial logistics is incompatible with the restoration of a private aviation facility.
