The airport was closed sometime between 1994 and 1998. It was depicted on the 1994 Detroit Sectional Chart but was no longer present on the 1998 World Aeronautical Chart.
The specific reason for closure is not officially documented. Like many small private airfields of its era, the closure was most likely due to economic factors, the sale of the property for other land use (in this case, agriculture), or the owner no longer wishing to maintain or operate an airfield.
The site of the former airport has been completely converted back to agricultural land. High-resolution satellite imagery shows the land is now a cultivated farm field. The faint, linear outline of the former north-south runway is still visible in the field due to soil compaction and slight differences in vegetation, but no airport infrastructure like hangars, markings, or buildings remains.
Beckman Airport was a small, private-use airfield that served the local general aviation community. It was not a public airport and had no scheduled commercial operations. According to the 1982 AOPA Airports USA Directory, it featured a single unpaved turf runway (18/36) with a length of 2,400 feet. Its operations would have consisted of light, single-engine aircraft like Cessnas or Pipers, used for recreational flying by its owner and invited guests. Its significance was purely local.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Beckman Airport. The land is privately owned and has been actively farmed for over two decades, making any return to aviation use extremely unlikely.
