Approximately between 2016 and 2018. Aeronautical charts from 2009 and aerial imagery from 2016 show the airport as operational, while satellite imagery from 2018 clearly shows the runway area being used as a cultivated farm field.
The airport was a private airstrip, and the land was converted for agricultural use. This type of closure is common for small, private airfields and is typically related to a change in ownership, the owner ceasing aviation activities, or economic decisions to repurpose the land for a more profitable use like farming.
The site of the former turf runway is now a cultivated agricultural field, fully integrated into the surrounding farmland. The distinct outline of the airstrip is no longer visible from the ground and only faintly discernible in some satellite imagery. A building at the north end of the former runway, believed to be the original hangar, appears to still be standing and is likely used for farm storage.
J&J Airport was a small, private general aviation airfield. It was not depicted on aeronautical charts in the 1970s but appeared as a private field by 1982. It was owned and operated by J & J Kocsis. The airport featured a single turf runway (17/35) measuring approximately 2,640 feet long by 100 feet wide. Its operations were limited to private use, likely by the owner and invited guests, and it held no significant role in public or commercial aviation. The identifier 'US-10624' is a non-official code used by some databases; its former FAA location identifier was SN75.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airport. The land has been fundamentally repurposed for agriculture, which would make re-establishing an airfield financially and logistically prohibitive. A return to aviation use is considered highly unlikely.
