The airport was closed between 1993 and 1995. The last known depiction on an aeronautical chart was the 1993 Dallas-Fort Worth Sectional Chart. By 1995, USGS aerial imagery shows the runway was still visible but appeared unused, with large-scale industrial construction commencing on the southern portion of the property.
The closure was a direct result of industrial and urban development. The land, situated in the rapidly growing area north of Fort Worth near the Alliance Global Logistics Hub, became significantly more valuable for industrial purposes. The construction of a large warehouse and distribution center complex directly on and adjacent to the airport property made continued aviation operations impossible.
The site of the former airport has been completely redeveloped and is unrecognizable as an airfield. The coordinates now place you in the middle of a massive industrial park, specifically the northern end of the BNSF Railway Alliance Intermodal Facility and surrounding logistics warehouses. The land where the runway once lay is now covered by buildings, container yards, and access roads like Intermodal Parkway.
Circle C Ranch Airport, which also used the FAA identifier 2TA2, was a privately owned, general aviation airfield. Established sometime in the late 1960s, it featured a single unpaved, 2,600-foot turf runway. The airport primarily served the recreational flying needs of its owner and the local aviation community. It was a characteristic example of the numerous small, private airstrips that once dotted the rural landscape surrounding major American cities before being consumed by suburban and industrial expansion.
There are zero prospects for reopening the airport. The land has been permanently and completely repurposed for high-value, critical transportation and logistics infrastructure. Reverting the site to an airport is not physically or economically feasible.
