Approximately between 1995 and 2004. The airport was listed in the 1995 AOPA Airport Directory but was no longer depicted on the 2004 Green Bay Sectional Aeronautical Chart.
The airport was a privately owned field. While not officially documented, the closure is presumed to be a personal decision by its owner and operator, Clarence Patz. This is a common fate for small private airfields, often closing due to the owner's advancing age, health, or the financial and physical burden of maintenance. Mr. Patz passed away in 2009, several years after the airport was confirmed to be closed.
The site is currently private residential and agricultural land. High-resolution satellite imagery clearly shows the remnant of the 2,600-foot turf runway, which is now maintained as a large, mowed lawn. The buildings at the south end of the former runway, including a residence and what appears to have been a hangar, are still standing. The property is not used for any aviation activities.
Patz Airport was a private general aviation airfield that served its owner and likely other local pilots. Its primary feature was a single turf runway, oriented north/south (approximately 18/36), with dimensions of 2,600 feet in length and 100 feet in width. The airport was active from at least the early 1980s through the mid-1990s. Its significance was local, representing the passion of a private aviator, Clarence Patz, who built, maintained, and operated his own airfield for personal use. It was not a commercial airport and did not handle scheduled flights or military operations.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Patz Airport. The land remains privately owned, and the infrastructure has not been maintained for aviation purposes for over two decades. A return to service as an airport is considered extremely unlikely.
