The airport was closed sometime between 1990 and 1993. It was still depicted on the 1990 Oklahoma City Sectional Chart but was absent from the 1993 edition. Aerial photography from 1995 confirms the transition, showing the runway still visible but with residential construction well underway.
The closure was due to economic factors driven by suburban expansion. As the city of Edmond grew, the land value increased significantly, making it more profitable to redevelop the airpark into a conventional, higher-density residential subdivision rather than maintain it as a niche fly-in community.
The site has been fully redeveloped into a residential neighborhood called the 'Woodleaf Edition'. The former runway has been paved and is now the central road of the subdivision, named 'Woodleaf Drive'. Many of the original large lots remain, and some homes still have their original attached hangars, which are now used as large garages, workshops, or storage buildings. The area is a quiet suburban neighborhood with no remaining aviation infrastructure.
Woodleaf Aero Estates was a private residential airpark, a type of 'fly-in community' where residents could park their personal aircraft at their homes. It primarily served general aviation pilots. The airport featured a single north/south turf runway, approximately 2,600 feet in length. Its operations were limited to the private aircraft of its residents and their guests. Its historical significance is as an example of an aviation-focused lifestyle community that was eventually overtaken by urban development, a common fate for many such small airfields located near growing cities.
There are zero prospects for reopening. The land has been permanently and completely converted to residential use. The former runway is now a public road lined with houses, trees, mailboxes, and other obstructions, making any future aviation operations physically and legally impossible.
