Congoleum Helistop

Economic reasons. The helistop was a private facility for the Congoleum Corporation. The company's financial difficulties, bankruptcy, and the resulting closure of the plant and relocation of its headquarters made the helistop obsolete. It was decommissioned as part of the site's shutdown.

The site has been completely redeveloped. The former Congoleum plant and offices were demolished. The location is now part of the 'Matrix Logistics Park at 7A', a large, modern industrial park featuring massive warehouse and distribution centers. A major tenant at the redeveloped site is Amazon. The original helistop and all associated infrastructure no longer exist.

The Congoleum Helistop (also known by its former FAA identifier 81NJ) was a private corporate heliport. Its sole purpose was to serve the adjacent Congoleum Corporation headquarters and manufacturing complex. Active during the company's peak, it was used for executive transport, allowing officials to travel efficiently to major airports (like EWR, PHL, JFK), other corporate facilities, and business meetings in the New York-Philadelphia metropolitan area, bypassing ground traffic. Its existence was a symbol of the company's size and stature in the latter half of the 20th century.

None. There are zero prospects for reopening. The original helistop has been physically obliterated, the land has been repurposed, and the original corporate user that required it has long since vacated the site. The current use as a logistics park does not require a private helistop.
