The airport was officially listed as permanently closed by the FAA on March 25, 2010. Satellite imagery from the years leading up to and following this date shows a gradual decline in maintenance, with the runway becoming less distinct after approximately 2010-2012.
The airport was a private-use facility owned and operated by the Hall Grain Co. of Kanorado, KS. Closures of such private airfields are typically for economic or personal reasons. It is highly probable that the airport was closed because it was no longer needed for the business operations, the associated aircraft was sold, the owner retired, or the business changed hands. There is no evidence to suggest the closure was due to a specific accident, military conversion, or regulatory action.
The site has been fully returned to agricultural use. Current satellite imagery shows the land where the runway was located is now actively being farmed and cultivated as part of the surrounding fields. While the faint, straight-line outline of the former north-south runway is still discernible from the air, there are no remaining airport facilities such as hangars, windsocks, or markings. The land has been completely reabsorbed into the farm.
Hall Farms Airport held local, private significance as an agricultural airstrip. It was not a public airport and did not handle commercial, charter, or scheduled flight operations. Its primary function was to support the activities of its owner, Hall Grain Co. Operations would have consisted of light, single-engine aircraft used for purposes such as business-related travel for the company, aerial inspection of crops and farm property, and personal transportation. The airport featured a single unpaved turf/dirt runway (17/35) approximately 2,600 feet long.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Hall Farms Airport. As a privately owned strip that has been decommissioned and returned to its primary agricultural purpose, there is no public or commercial incentive for its reactivation. Re-establishing the airport would require significant private investment from the landowner to cease farming the plot and recertify it as an airfield, which is highly unlikely.
