Unknown, but likely a gradual abandonment circa late 2010s. Analysis of historical satellite imagery shows the airstrip was clearly defined and maintained until at least 2017, but appears overgrown and unused in imagery from the 2020s. There was no specific, formally announced closure date as it was a private facility.
The airport was a private farm strip, and its closure was most likely due to the property owner ceasing aviation operations and no longer maintaining the runway. This is a common reason for the closure of small, private airfields and is not linked to any known accident, military conversion, or broader economic factors. The closure was a private land-use decision.
The site remains agricultural land. Recent satellite imagery shows the faint outline of the former north-south runway is still visible in the fields. However, it is no longer maintained as an active airstrip and appears to have been fully integrated back into the surrounding farmland or pasture. The associated farm buildings are still present, but there is no indication of active aviation infrastructure.
Umpqua River Farm Airport was a private, unpaved (grass/dirt) airstrip. Its significance was purely local, serving the agricultural and recreational flying needs of the farm's owners and their associates. It was not a public-use airport and had no commercial or scheduled operations. The runway was approximately 1,800-2,000 feet long, suitable for light, single-engine aircraft such as a Piper Cub, Cessna 172, or similar STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) capable planes used for personal transport or farm-related activities.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Umpqua River Farm Airport. As a privately owned strip on private land, any decision to restore and reopen it would be entirely at the discretion of the current landowner. Given that it has fallen into disuse, the likelihood of it being reopened for aviation is considered extremely low.
