The airport appears to have closed between 2013 and 2017. Analysis of historical satellite imagery shows a clearly defined and maintained turf runway in 2013. By 2017, the runway area shows signs of being tilled and farmed over, and in subsequent years, it has been fully integrated into the surrounding agricultural fields.
The facility was a private-use airstrip owned by Georger Farms Inc. The closure was not the result of a major incident, military conversion, or public economic pressure. The most likely reason is a cessation of private aviation operations by the owner. This is common for private airstrips and can be due to various factors, such as the owner selling their aircraft, retiring from flying, the high cost of insurance and maintenance, or a simple business decision to repurpose the land for its primary agricultural use.
The airport is permanently closed and has been completely dismantled. The land that once served as the runway and any associated clear zones has been fully reclaimed for farming. Current satellite views show the area as an active agricultural field, with no visible remnants of the airstrip.
Georger Farms Airport had no national historical significance. It was a private turf runway (listed as 2600 ft long) serving the agricultural and personal needs of its owner, Georger Farms. Its operations would have been limited to small, single-engine general aviation aircraft. Its primary function was likely for agricultural aviation (crop dusting) and/or personal transportation for the farm's owners and staff. It was not open to the public.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Georger Farms Airport. Since it was a private facility and the land has been repurposed by its owner, any initiative to reopen would have to come from the landowner. Given the full conversion of the site back to farmland, a reopening is considered extremely unlikely.
Georger Farms Airport no longer exists. It was a private grass airfield that was removed in 2001.
