Circa 2010-2011. Analysis of historical satellite imagery shows the runway was intact and unobstructed in 2010. By 2011, construction had begun on a road that bisects the former runway, marking the definitive closure of the airfield.
Economic reasons, specifically for residential real estate development. The privately-owned land was sold and repurposed to meet housing demand in the area, a common fate for small general aviation airfields located on valuable land.
The site has been completely redeveloped into a residential housing subdivision named 'Myers Field Estates'. The main road through the development, 'Myers Field Drive', follows the approximate centerline of the former runway, serving as a direct acknowledgment of the land's prior use. The entire area of the former airfield is now occupied by single-family homes and associated infrastructure.
Myers Field was a privately-owned, general aviation airport that served the Pequot Lakes community. It was owned by Richard Myers, for whom it was named. The airfield featured a single, unpaved north/south turf runway, which was listed on its final aeronautical charts as being 2,600 feet long. It primarily handled light, single-engine aircraft for recreational flying, likely supporting the local tourism industry in the popular Brainerd Lakes Area. While not appearing on older charts, it was officially recognized as a private airfield in its later years of operation.
None. The land has been permanently and irreversibly converted to a residential zone. With homes, roads, and utilities built directly on the former runway and surrounding property, there is no physical space or legal possibility for the airport to be reopened.
