Between 1981 and 1991. The airport was last depicted on the 1981 Memphis Sectional Chart and was absent from the 1991 chart.
Industrial expansion. The airport was located on the property of the adjacent General Foods (now Post Consumer Brands) plant. It was closed and built over to allow for the expansion of the manufacturing facility and its associated infrastructure.
The site of the former airport has been completely redeveloped and is now fully occupied by the expanded Post Consumer Brands manufacturing plant. The runway, taxiways, and any other aviation facilities have been demolished and built over with factory buildings, warehouses, and parking lots. There are no visible remnants of the airport.
The airport, while listed in some databases as 'Nolan Airport', was historically known as 'General Foods Airport' and later 'Jonesboro Industrial Airport'. It was a private airfield built specifically to serve the corporate and executive travel needs of the large adjacent food processing plant. First appearing on aeronautical charts in the mid-1960s, it featured a single paved runway approximately 4,000 feet long. Its primary operation was handling corporate aircraft bringing executives, clients, and personnel to and from the General Foods facility, playing a key role in the logistics and business operations of the plant before its closure.
None. The land has been irreversibly repurposed for heavy industrial use. Reopening an airport on this site is not feasible as it would require the removal of a major, active manufacturing plant. The aviation needs of Jonesboro are served by the Jonesboro Municipal Airport (KJBR).
