Approximately 1999-2001. The airfield was last depicted on the 1999 World Aeronautical Chart. Aerial imagery from 2001 shows that the runway had been removed and construction of a residential street grid was underway.
Urban encroachment and real estate development. As the city of Sherwood expanded, the land became significantly more valuable for residential housing than for a private airstrip. The owner and namesake, Robert C. McIntosh, subsequently developed the property into the housing subdivision that stands there today.
The site has been completely redeveloped into a residential neighborhood known as the 'McIntosh Subdivision'. The former runway and airfield grounds are now occupied by single-family homes, lawns, and streets. The street names, such as McIntosh Loop, McIntosh Cove, and Chris Drive, directly commemorate the former airport and its owner.
Robert Chris McIntosh Airport was a private airfield that served the general aviation community. It was owned and operated by Robert C. McIntosh (1927-2012), a local pilot and World War II veteran. The airfield first appeared on aeronautical charts in 1977 and featured a single north-south unpaved runway, reported to be approximately 2,600 feet long. It was a typical example of a privately owned, public-use airfield on the outskirts of a growing urban area, primarily handling light, single-engine aircraft for its owner and other local aviators.
None. The land is fully and densely developed with residential housing, making any prospect of reopening the site as an airport physically and economically impossible.
