Shannon Field

The closure was almost certainly for private economic reasons. Shannon Field was a small, private airstrip. When the owner no longer had a need for it, or upon sale of the property, the land was likely converted back to its most profitable use in that region: agriculture. This is a common reason for the closure of small, rural airfields.

The site of the former Shannon Field has been completely reclaimed for agricultural purposes. Current satellite imagery shows the land where the runway once existed is now a cultivated crop field, indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland. There are no remaining traces of hangars, runway markers, or any other aviation infrastructure.

Shannon Field was a private general aviation airstrip, likely consisting of a single turf runway. Its significance was purely local, serving the needs of its owner for personal or business transportation via light aircraft. Given its location in a major agricultural area, it may have also been used for agricultural aviation (e.g., crop dusting). It did not handle commercial flights and was not a public-use facility. The identifier 'US-10110' is an internal catalog number from an unofficial airport database and not a recognized ICAO code.

There are no plans or prospects for reopening Shannon Field. The land has been fully repurposed, and the economic incentive to convert valuable farmland back into a private airstrip is nonexistent. The airport is considered permanently closed.
