Lamar Field

The airfield was a private, personal-use strip. It ceased operations following the death of its owner. This is a common fate for private airfields whose existence is tied to a single individual's passion for aviation.

The site is currently a disused, overgrown field. The distinct, cleared outline of the former runway is still clearly visible from satellite imagery, but it is no longer maintained or suitable for aircraft operations. The land appears to be part of the adjacent private residential property and is not being actively used for agriculture or other purposes.

Lamar Field was a private airstrip that served its owner for personal general aviation activities. It consisted of a single turf/grass runway, oriented northwest/southeast, with a length of approximately 2,200 feet. Historical satellite imagery from the mid-1990s shows the field in active use with a small aircraft parked near a residence at the southeast end of the runway. Its significance lies in being a representative example of the thousands of private residential airfields established by aviation enthusiasts across the United States for recreational flying.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Lamar Field. Given that it was a private airfield tied to a specific individual who is now deceased, its reactivation is extremely unlikely. Any future use would depend entirely on the current landowners' desire and financial ability to restore and operate an airfield, for which there is no public indication.
