Estimated to be between the late 1990s and mid-2000s. The airport was depicted on the 1993 World Aeronautical Chart but was no longer shown on charts by the early 2000s. Satellite imagery from the mid-2000s shows the runway was still visible but appeared unused, and by the late 2000s, the land was actively being converted for farming.
Economic reasons and land reclamation. As a private airstrip supporting a farm, its operational necessity likely diminished over time. The value of the land for agricultural production, especially with the installation of modern irrigation systems, surpassed its value as an airstrip. This is a common reason for the closure of private, rural airfields.
The site of the former airport has been fully reclaimed for agricultural use. The exact location of the runway is now part of a large, circular field irrigated by a center-pivot system. There are no visible traces of the runway, taxiways, or any associated buildings like hangars. The land is indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland.
The airport held no major historical significance on a national or regional level. It was a private-use airfield, serving the specific needs of Circle H Farms. Its operations would have been typical for a large agricultural enterprise in the Texas Panhandle, likely including:
- Agricultural aviation (crop dusting and spraying).
- Transportation of farm personnel, owners, or clients.
- Light cargo and equipment transport.
- General aviation for recreational or business purposes related to the farm.
The airfield consisted of a single, unpaved north/south runway, approximately 3,500 feet in length.
Zero. The land has been completely repurposed for agriculture with significant infrastructure (a center-pivot irrigation system) installed directly over the former runway's location. There are no plans or economic incentives to convert this productive farmland back into an airport. The nearby Texline Municipal Airport (KBCX) serves the aviation needs of the local area.
