Approximately mid-1970s. The airport was depicted on the 1971 Salt Lake Sectional Chart but was no longer shown on charts by 1980. Its closure coincided with the construction of the new Tremonton City Airport (KTRT).
The airport was closed because it was replaced by a new, more modern facility. The original airport had unpaved gravel runways and limited infrastructure. The city of Tremonton constructed a new airport (the current KTRT) to the northeast of the city with a paved runway and better facilities to more adequately serve the community's aviation needs. The land of the old airport was subsequently re-zoned for economic development.
The site of the former airport has been completely redeveloped and is now the Tremonton City West Business Park (also referred to as the Tremonton Industrial Park). The land is occupied by large-scale industrial and commercial buildings, including a major Post Consumer Brands (Malt-O-Meal) manufacturing plant, warehouses, and other businesses. There are no visible remnants of the original runways, taxiways, or airport structures.
This was the original municipal airport for Tremonton, UT, serving the area from at least the early 1950s. It was a general aviation airfield primarily used by private pilots and likely for agricultural operations such as crop dusting, which is common in the region. According to historical aviation directories and charts, the airport featured two unpaved runways, the longest of which was approximately 3,600 feet. It served as the community's air link until it was superseded by the current, more capable airport.
There are zero prospects for reopening the airport at this location. The land has been permanently and fully repurposed for industrial use. The city's aviation services are provided by the active Tremonton City Airport (ICAO: KTRT, FAA LID: TRT), which replaced this closed facility.
