Approximately between 1993 and 1998. The airport was last depicted on the 1993 Washington Sectional Chart as a private airfield. By 1998, it was no longer shown on aeronautical charts, and construction on a new facility began on the site in the early 2000s.
Replacement by a new public airport and subsequent land redevelopment. The original airport was a small, private turf field with limited facilities. Its closure coincided with the planning and construction of the new, publicly-owned Warren County Memorial Airport (KOCW), which opened in 2005 about 6 miles north. The new airport offered a paved runway and modern amenities to better serve the county's aviation needs. The land of the original airport was sold and redeveloped for industrial use.
The airport site has been completely redeveloped and is unrecognizable as an airfield. A large industrial building, a furniture manufacturing and distribution center for Carolina Classics / Catnapper, was constructed directly over the former runway and airport grounds. The entire property is now used for industrial and commercial purposes.
Also known as Bridges Airport, this facility was a private general aviation airport that served the Warrenton community from the late 1940s until the mid-1990s. It first appeared on a 1949 aeronautical chart. The airport consisted of a single turf runway (Runway 18/36) approximately 2,800 feet long. It primarily handled VFR (Visual Flight Rules) operations for local private pilots and small aircraft, serving as a basic but functional landing strip for the area for nearly 50 years. It never had commercial airline service or extensive infrastructure.
None. The original airport infrastructure has been entirely removed, and the land is fully occupied by a large, active industrial facility. The aviation needs of the region are now served by the modern Warren County Memorial Airport (KOCW), making any prospect of reopening the original site impossible.
