Taxi services are very limited on Molokai and must be booked in advance. There is no taxi stand for on-demand service at the airport. You must call a local company ahead of time to arrange a pickup.
Renting a car is the most common and recommended way to explore the island. A couple of rental agencies, including Alamo and local operators, have counters inside the airport terminal. Due to a very limited fleet of vehicles on the island, it is crucial to reserve your car far in advance.
The MEO (Maui Economic Opportunity) bus system provides public transportation on the island. While it is a low-cost option, its routes and schedules are primarily geared toward local residents and may not be convenient for visitors, especially those with luggage or arriving outside of service hours.
