Taxis are available on both sides of the channel. Travelers typically take a taxi from the airport terminal to the ferry, walk on the ferry as a foot passenger, and then take another taxi from the ferry terminal on the Ketchikan side to their destination. It is not a single continuous taxi ride.
Car rental agencies, including Avis and Budget, have counters located inside the airport terminal. Customers rent a vehicle at the airport on Gravina Island and drive it onto the airport ferry to get to the main town of Ketchikan. Advance reservations are strongly recommended.
There is no direct public bus service to the airport terminal. To connect with the Ketchikan Gateway Borough's public bus system, travelers must first take the airport ferry to the Ketchikan side. The nearest bus stops are a short walk from the ferry terminal in town.
