Taxis are available 24/7 and are located on the commercial curb outside the baggage claim area. Several local companies serve the airport. Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft also operate at FAI, with designated pick-up and drop-off zones.
Rental car counters are located inside the terminal, directly across from the baggage claim carousels. Major agencies like Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National are available on-site. The rental car lot is a short walk from the terminal.
The Fairbanks MACS (Metropolitan Area Commuter System) Transit provides public bus service. The Red Line connects the airport to downtown Fairbanks and other key areas. The bus stop is located on the commercial curb outside the main terminal entrance.
I flew in via Canada. Northway didn't wish to send anyone down late so I flew direct here from TOK (precleared for a technical stop) and Canada. Customs is around by gate 6 at the main terminal.
this airport is currently undergoing a major remodel. perhaps with more gates, we'll have the opportunity for more flights at more convenient departure times.
TSA security is very thorough, but consistently very lenient in what you're allowed to bring. for instance, they allowed me to bring about 8 oz. of juice for my baby in her cup and plenty of other baby food/drink supplies.
Time to get through security is really fast and easy.
