Circa 2006-2007. The airport was listed as active in the Canada Flight Supplement (CFS) as late as October 2005 but was officially marked as 'DEACTIVATED' in publications by 2008.
Economic and land-use redevelopment. The municipality of Lac-Etchemin opted to sell the airport land and rezone it for industrial purposes to stimulate local economic growth. The perceived value of an industrial park was determined to be greater than that of a small, likely underutilized, general aviation airport.
The site has been completely redeveloped and is now the 'Parc industriel de Lac-Etchemin' (Lac-Etchemin Industrial Park). Satellite imagery confirms that several large commercial and industrial buildings have been constructed directly on the footprint of the former runway and taxiway areas. While the access road retains the name 'Rue de l'Aéroport' (Airport Street), the land is now fully utilized by various businesses, and only faint outlines of the original runway are visible in undeveloped grassy sections.
Lac Etchemin Airport, which operated with the Transport Canada Identifier CSE4 (the provided ICAO 'CA-1094' is a non-standard identifier likely from a third-party database), was a public general aviation aerodrome. It featured a single gravel runway (05/23) approximately 3,000 feet long. The airport was owned and managed by a local non-profit entity, the 'Corporation de l'aéroport de Lac-Etchemin'. Its primary function was to serve the local community by supporting recreational flying, private pilot activities, and providing air access for small charter or business aircraft. It played a modest role in connecting the relatively remote Etchemins region but did not have scheduled commercial passenger services or significant military operations.
Zero. There are no plans or prospects for reopening the airport. The land has been permanently repurposed with significant investment in industrial infrastructure, including large, permanent buildings. Reverting the site to an airport would be logistically and financially prohibitive, requiring the acquisition and demolition of multiple private commercial properties.
The airport is closed by AIP Canada Supplement 81/20
