Gary's Airport

The closure was due to reasons related to its private ownership. As a 'Private Use' airfield, its operation was solely dependent on the owner, Gary D. Armstrong. Such closures are common when the property is sold, the owner can no longer maintain it due to age or cost, or upon the owner's passing. There is no evidence to suggest the closure was due to a specific accident, military conversion, or broader economic failure.

The site is now private property and is no longer recognizable or maintained as an airport. Analysis of recent satellite imagery shows that the former turf runway is completely overgrown and has reverted to being an agricultural field, indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland. Any associated structures, such as hangars, if they still exist, are likely used for farm storage or other private purposes. For all practical purposes, the airport infrastructure is gone.

Gary's Airport was a small, private general aviation airfield. Its primary function was to support the personal and recreational flying activities of its owner and potentially a few local pilots with permission. It featured a single turf runway (18/36) measuring approximately 2000 feet long by 100 feet wide. Operations would have been limited to light, single-engine aircraft such as Cessnas, Pipers, or similar planes capable of using a short, unpaved runway. It held no commercial or military significance but was a functional example of a personal airstrip common in rural America.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Gary's Airport. Given that the land has been fully integrated back into agricultural use and is privately owned, the likelihood of it ever being re-established as an aviation facility is extremely low. Reopening would require significant investment and the consent of the current landowner, for which there is no public indication of interest.
