Circa 2014-2015. While the official FAA cancellation date may vary, analysis of historical satellite imagery shows the heliport and its associated building were demolished during this period to clear the land for new construction.
Economic reasons, specifically real estate development. The land was owned by Ranger Construction Industries, Inc., which sold the parcel to a commercial real estate developer, McCraney Property Company. The heliport was closed and removed as part of the land's redevelopment into a large-scale industrial and business park.
The site has been completely redeveloped and is now unrecognizable as a former heliport. It is part of the 'Centrepark West' industrial park. The exact location of the former helipad and office is now occupied by large warehouse and distribution facilities, including a prominent U-Haul Moving & Storage center and other commercial buildings, situated just west of the Florida Turnpike near the intersection of N Military Trail and Okeechobee Blvd.
Ranger Heliport was a private-use facility owned and operated by Ranger Construction Industries, Inc., a major road building and site development company in Florida. Located at their corporate headquarters, the heliport served as a vital asset for the company's operations. It was primarily used for executive transport, enabling company leadership and engineers to quickly travel between the main office, numerous construction sites across the state, and regional airports, thereby bypassing traffic and increasing efficiency. Operations consisted of light, single-engine corporate helicopters.
There are zero prospects for reopening. The closure was permanent, and the land has been irrevocably repurposed for high-density commercial and industrial use. The original infrastructure is gone, and the entire site is now occupied by large, permanent buildings, making a future heliport at this location impossible.
